Abstract: Oxytropis glabra DC. has been characterized as one of the most destructive plants to livestock in the northwest of China. In the course of studing the toxic principles of this plant, ten compounds were isolated and identified from the abovegronud parts of Oxytropis glabra DC. by spectra analysis and other physical-chemical means. They have been identified as quercetin(Ⅰ), kaempferol(Ⅱ), 3′,7-dihydroxy-2′, 4′-dimethoxy-iso-flavane(Ⅲ), kaempferol-7-0-α-L-rhamnopyranoside(Ⅳ), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(Ⅴ),kaempferol-3-O-β-D-ghcopyranosyl(1-2)-β-D-glucopyranoside(Ⅵ), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-β-D-glucopyrano-side (Ⅶ), quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅷ), myricetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(Ⅸ) and 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (l-3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1-6)-β-D-glucuropyranosyl]-soyasapogenol B(Ⅹ) respectively. All of them were isolated from this plant for the first time. No. X is a new triterpenoid saponin.

Key words: Leguminosae, Oxytropis glabra, Flavonoids, Triterpenoid saponin
