Abstract: After wheat seeds were treated by magnetic field, the activity of peroxidase (POD) in embryos were increased during germination. Two more POD isoenzymes were found in treated seeds as compared with control. The activity of POD in roots and leaves differentiated from treatment seeds were still higher than that in the control. There was obvious difference of POD isoenzymes of leaves between the treatment and control. It implys that a posteffect the gene expression of POD isoenzymes induced by magnetic field was displayed. The high activity of POD in root and leaf pretreated by magnetic field still existed during the dehydration of seedlings. The activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) showed the same trend as that of POD. Thus. it is indicated that the function of defence enzymes in seedling was intensified due to the treatment of magnetic field.
