文本框: On June 25th, 2013, JIPB held a press conference to announce its newly-released 2012 impact factor of 3.75 and to discuss its course of development and future plans. At the conference, it was also announced that JIPB has recently opened its own blog, and will soon offer an iPad version of the journal. JIPB’s ranking in the Plant Science category of journals has also increased to 22nd out of 195, and it is ranked 12th among international plant science research journals and 7th among all SCI journals in China. 文本框: JIPB's International Board Meeting 2013 and 3rd Symposium on Integrative Plant Biology were recently held with great success. The board meeting, which was hosted by JIPB in the scenic town of Lijiang, was attended by 46 editorial board members and scientific experts from 10 countries around the globe, and more than 100 participants attended the symposium. The board meeting took place on July 4th, and the symposium began on July 5th and concluded on July 7th. 
 
During the board meeting, it was decided that JIPB will go paper-free by 2014 and will become OpenAccess by 2015. Additionally, the journal will improve its feedback to rejected authors, include a new theme of "Functional Omics and Systems Biology," update its design for better readability, and hold training courses 3–4 times per year. The possibility of instituting a mentorship program for students who aspire to publish quality papers in JIPB was also discussed. Articles include a review on increasing cotton fiber yield and quality from Prof. Yong-Ling Ruan, and research articles on the origin and expression patterns of cotton transcripts from Prof. Xiang Jin, Verticillium wilt resistance and cell death from Prof. Xiquan Gao, selection and characterization of a novel photoperiod-sensitive male sterile line in upland cotton from Prof. Jianhui Ma, identification and characterization of cotton genes involved in fuzz-fiber development from Prof. Gaskin Wang, and more.
