Cover Caption: Plant Vascular Biology and Agriculture
The focus of this special issue is on vascular biology, an area which has emerged in recent years, exploring the integrative nature of plant transport systems and various approaches to investigate them. The cover picture shows a transverse section of a Populus stem, stained with toluidine blue. Full genome sequencing, advanced genetic tools and ability to assay gene function using transgenics makes Populus an excellent model for the study of the plant vascular system.
