Potato plants were transformed with pBinB33-tms1 vector assuring predominant expression of auxin synthesis gene in tubers.
B33:tms1
-transformants showed accelerated and intensified in vitro tuberization with reduced dependence on photoperiod and carbohydrate supply. Our data imply an important role for auxin in potato tuberization and offer prospects to magnify potato productivity.
