Abstract: The results of the present study show that in Gloiopeltis furcata the impregnated carpogonium produces a single connecting filament which is simple or forked. The connecting filament unites directly with the second or the third (or both) basal cell of the fertile branch cluster. The procarp of Gloiopeltis furcata, therefore, consists of a few auxiliary cells and several carpogonial branches.
