Abstract: Eight flavonoids were isolated from the roots of Sophora flavescens Ait. On the basis of their physical and chemical properties and spectral analysis, they were identified as maackiain (1), 4-methoxy-maackiain (2), trifolirhizin (3), nor-anhydroicarithin(4), isokuratione (5), sophoraflavanone B (6), nor-kurarinone (7)and formoronetin (8). Com-pounds 1,2 and 6 were found in Sophora flavescens Ait for the first time.
