New Anthraquinones from the Sprout of Crocus sativus

Abstract

Abstract: Two novel anthraquinones ( Ⅲ, Ⅳ ) and two known anthraquinones ( Ⅰ, Ⅱ ) were isolated from the sprout of Crocus sativus L. Compounds Ⅲ and Ⅳ were characterized as 1-methyl-3-methoxy-8-hydroxyan- thraquinone-2-carboxylic acid and 1-methyl-3-methoxy-6,8-dihydroxyantlwaquinone-2-carboxylic acid, respec- tively. Two known compounds were emodin ( Ⅰ ) and 2-hydroxyemodin ( Ⅱ ). All structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
