Abstract: A prelimimary investigation on neutral triterpene components of Cathaya argyrophylla Chun et Kuang trunk is reported. Seven crystalline components had been isolated from trunk of C. argyrophylla, six of them had been identified as known serratene famlly components: Cathaya B (3α-methoxy-21-keto serratene). Cathaya C [serratenediol monoaeetate (3β-acetyl-21a-hydroxy-△14-serratene)], Cathaya D (serratenedio), Cathaya E (compound [D]), Cathaya F (3β-hydroxy-21-keto-△14-serratene) and cathaya G (serratenedione). Cathaya H seems to be a new serratene family component. Its structure will be studied further.
