Abstract: Tanshinone Ⅱ-A (Ⅱ), tanshinone Ⅰ (Ⅲ), cryptotanshinone (Ⅳ), β-sitosterol and 4,5- seco-5,10-friedo-abieta-3,5(10), 6,8,13-pentaene-ll.12-dione (Ⅰ) which was called saprorthoquinone as a natural product directly isolated from the plant, were isolated from the root of Salvia prionitis Hance for the first time. (Ⅰ) showed a strong cytotoxicity against P388 leukemia cell in vitro.
