Photosynthesis, the fundamental process by which plants, algae, and certain bacteria convert light energy into chemical energy, sustains life on Earth by providing oxygen and serving as the primary source of organic carbon. The complex mechanisms of photosynthesis have attracted the attention of scientists from various disciplines, resulting in a wide variety of research areas and topics.
Journal of Integrative Plant Biology is calling for submissions of original research articles, invited expert reviews, and breakthrough reports that describe new findings on photosynthesis. This special issue aims to discuss the molecular complexities of light harvesting and electron transfer, as well as the global impact of climate change on photosynthetic organisms.
Topics for this call for papers include but not restricted to:
● Light harvesting and reaction
● Electron transfer
● CO2 concentrating and fixation
● Regulation of photosynthesis gene expression
● Chloroplast biogenesis and development
● Photosynthesis protein complex assembly
● Photoinhibition and photoprotection
● Perception of environmental signal and acclimation
● Organelle communication
● Crop improvement
● Global photosynthesis and climate changes
● Artificial photosynthesis
