The Brittleness of Rice
As an important agronomic trait, brittleness of the strew in rice affects not only the grain production but also its sefulness as animal feed. The brittleness culm mutant of rice was obtained from 60Co-radiated rice population. The mutation affected the anatomical structure of the vascular bundles and chemical composition of the cell walls, but not the photosynthetic dynamics and apoplastic transport.
