The egg cell is preferentially fertilized in Arabidopsis double fertilization

Abstract: Each cyclin-dependent kinase a;1 mutant pollen grain contains a single sperm-like cell that can fertilize egg cells, similar to sperm cells. Pollination assays with mutant pollen demonstrated that the egg cell is preferentially fertilized in Arabidopsis.
